I want to share something with you.

In 2023, I went on a life-changing trip to Central America.

While I was there, I met a woman who was an artist.

She showed me her journals, sketches and paintings from her travels. She was creating a visual diary of her life, capturing memories, feelings and moments as she experienced them.

I remember looking through those pages and feeling something I’d forgotten.

Wonder.

The colours, the stories, the freedom.

It wasn’t about creating perfect art.

It was about paying attention.

She encouraged me to start painting again when I got back to the UK.

At first, I thought she was mad.

I hadn’t picked up a paintbrush since school.

I didn’t know what to paint.

I didn’t know where to start.

I didn’t think I was creative enough.

But something about that encounter stayed with me.

And even though I didn’t realise it then, that conversation quietly changed the direction of my life.
